Full-Service Packing

We pack the whole house — or just the kitchen and the fragiles — with materials and labor included.

Packing is where most of the breakage happens, and it’s the part people most want off their plate. District High Quality Movers packs your home the way we’d want ours packed: the right box for each item, real cushioning around anything fragile, and everything labeled by room so the unload makes sense.

You can hand us the entire house or just the parts you dread — the kitchen, the art, the glassware. Either way, materials and labor are in one price, quoted before we arrive.

  • Licensed & insured — US DOT/MC & DMV household-goods registration
  • Set-price quotes in writing, with nothing buried

Our packers bring the boxes, paper, bubble, and tape with them, so there’s no last-minute run to a store and no surprise materials bill. Dishes go in dish-pack cartons with cell dividers; mirrors and framed art get corner protection and a custom box; lamps, electronics, and oddly shaped pieces get wrapped to fit rather than crammed into whatever’s handy.

If a full pack is more than you need, partial-pack covers just the high-risk rooms while you handle the books and clothes yourself. A lot of DC clients have us do the kitchen and the breakables and pack the rest on their own, which is a perfectly good way to split it, and we’ll quote it that way.

What Packing Costs

Full-pack starts at $440 with materials and labor together, and the final number depends on how much there is to pack and how many fragiles are in the mix.

Option Starting price What’s in it
Full-pack From $440 Whole-home packing, all materials and labor included
Partial-pack Quoted to scope Just the rooms you choose: kitchen, fragiles, art
Specialty crating From $379 Pianos, safes, and high-value oversized pieces
Materials and labor are quoted together, up front. You won’t get a separate invoice for boxes after the fact; the number on your estimate is the number for the packing.

What’s Not Included

A few things sit outside the standard packing scope and we’ll call them out on the estimate:

  • Unpacking and debris haul-away at the destination, available as an add-on
  • Disconnecting hardwired appliances or electronics that need a technician
  • Hazardous materials such as paint, propane, and aerosols, which no mover can legally transport
  • The move itself; packing can be booked on its own or bundled with your load day

However you split it, the same care standard applies — full padding, the right carton for the item, and a crew that treats your glassware like it’s theirs.

Covered in your price

Everything our DC movers bring on move day — nothing tacked on, nothing sprung on you.

  • All packing materials — boxes, paper, bubble, tape — brought to your door
  • Dish-pack cartons for kitchenware and custom boxes for mirrors and art
  • Room-by-room labeling so the unload is organized
  • Full-pack or partial-pack — pack the whole home or just the fragiles
  • Materials and labor quoted together, from $440, with no surprise box bill
  • Careful handling by our own packers, with $1,000,000 cargo coverage on the move

Questions we hear a lot

Are packing materials included or billed separately?
Included. Full-pack starts at $440 with boxes, paper, bubble wrap, and tape all in the one price. We bring everything with us, so there’s no extra materials invoice after the job and no last-minute supply run on your end.
Can you pack just the kitchen and breakables?
Yes — that’s our partial-pack option, and it’s popular. We’ll pack the high-risk rooms like the kitchen, glassware, art, and electronics while you take care of books, clothes, and the easy stuff. We quote partial-pack to the exact rooms you choose so you only pay for what you hand us.
How do you protect fragile and valuable items?
Dishes go in dish-pack cartons with dividers, mirrors and framed art get corner guards and custom boxes, and electronics and lamps are wrapped to fit. Pianos, safes, and oversized high-value pieces get specialty handling from $379. The move itself carries up to $1,000,000 in cargo coverage per shipment.
Do I have to use your movers too, or can I just book packing?
You can book packing on its own or bundle it with your load day — your choice. Plenty of clients have us pack a day or two ahead and then move themselves, or have us do both. We’ll quote whichever way fits your plan.
